Annual Award Highlights Companies Using Technology in
Smart, Innovative Ways

November 17, 2008 – San Francisco, CA – IDG’s InfoWorld today named Oklahoma City’s IT Services Department to the ‘Infoworld 100’ Top IT Solutions for 2008 for their 555 square mile wireless broadband network based on Tropos Networks’ solution. The InfoWorld 100 awards honor companies for IT projects that exemplify intelligent, creative uses of technology to meet business and technical objectives.

Oklahoma City’s  IT Services, lead by Mark Meier, was selected in the Government Category for their large-scale wireless IP network.  The network uses Tropos as the network foundation as well as software applications from Tropos solution partners Accela and NetMotion.  Examples of the applications integrated on the network today include CAD, reporting, records management, GPS tracking, Web-based crime databases, mapping systems, video monitoring, and the vast majority of the city's IT applications.

"Breathing new life into outdated operations, advancing business goals with inventive use of technology -- this year's winners demonstrate, once again, that innovative, business-minded IT is the lifeblood of successful organizations," said Jason Snyder, Senior Editor for InfoWorld.

Every year, the InfoWorld 100 Awards celebrate 100 IT organizations that have implemented and integrated technologies in innovative ways in pursuit of concrete business goals. These 100 real-world projects stand as proof that striking a new path in IT can reap deep organizational rewards.

Nominations were submitted by InfoWorld readers, technology partners, and end-user companies in late-summer. To be considered, projects must use multiple technologies in innovative ways to serve well-defined business goals. Profiles of winners, along with InfoWorld’s editorial analysis and insight, are available at www.InfoWorld.com.
