Tropos Networks

December 2008

Dear Tropos Friends,

I want to thank our loyal customers and business partners who have helped make 2008 a very successful year in the evolution of Tropos Networks.

During the past 12 months, more than 30 new customers have been added to the Tropos family of clients who have deployed metro-scale outdoor wireless broadband IP networks. These networks are used as the foundation for deployment of one or many high-value applications including mobile public safety; intelligent transportation systems; fixed/mobile video surveillance; automated water, gas, and electric meter reading. Our customers are deploying these networks to help create greener, safer, and smarter communities.

While 2008 will be long remembered as one of the most difficult economic periods in U.S. history, our long list of municipal clients continues to grow. Just last month there was a significant ribbon-cutting ceremony in Ponca City, Oklahoma for a new Tropos installation. This network is a combination of public safety, mobile video, and economic development applications merged into a single business model which will provide the city with significant budgetary savings starting in 2009, as well as helping to improve the quality of life in Ponca City.

We are also grateful to our growing community of Troposphere Partners – this includes Channel Partners who have helped us reach new cities and countries with our products; and Solution Partners who work with us to build a complete offering to meet customer needs. Our partners are a critical hinge pin to our ongoing success worldwide.

In 2008 we were awarded six new U.S. patents and our products been accepted by the NIST organization for FIPS 140-2 certification.

On behalf of all Tropos Networks employees, thank you for your continued loyalty and support. Our best wishes to you for a very prosperous 2009.

Sincerely,

Tom Ayers
